Security

Keeping your account and data safe is a priority. Here is an overview of how we protect the Water What Matters™ community.

Account Protection

Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, never in plain text. Access to dashboards and data is controlled by your role, so you only see the information relevant to you.

Data in Transit and at Rest

Connections to the platform are encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS. Your data is stored on secure, managed infrastructure with restricted access.

Role-Based Access

  • Volunteers can only view and manage their own activity.
  • Organizations can only view volunteers connected to their own opportunities.
  • Companies can only view verified activity of their own employees.
  • Administrative access is limited and monitored.

Verification and Integrity

Volunteer hours are verified and signed off by organizations before points are awarded. This helps ensure that recognition and impact reporting reflect real, confirmed activity.

Your Role in Security

  • Use a strong, unique password for your account.
  • Never share your login credentials.
  • Sign out on shared or public devices.
  • Report anything suspicious so we can look into it quickly.

Reporting a Concern

If you believe your account has been compromised or you notice a security issue, please contact us right away through JoinWater.org so we can respond promptly.
